Stations of the Cross, The Journey within Blackburn Cathedral

The Journey consists of fifteen 6ft oil paintings which hang throughout the Cathedral and form a ‘walking route’ to follow the way of the cross with Christ on his final journey. Each painting, which depicts one lonely figure, has been painted in such a way to challenge and speak to all who view them.   “When you have walked the journey in Blackburn Cathedral you will leave having discovered a little more of what it means to be human in an age where inhumanity must not be allowed to win.” Canon Chris Chivers

With accolades from Archbishop Desmond Tutu, “Wonderfully creative - The Journey has such considerable healing potential”, Archbishop Rowan Williams, “Outstanding and very moving work - I hope it will speak to many”, and Tom Wright, Bishop of Durham “remarkable” these extraordinary paintings will help to explain the meaning of Christ to a puzzled and agnostic generation and engage with people where they are in all the complexities of life in the 21st century.
The prints, which are very reasonably priced, are available on paper and framed, or on canvas, and in various sizes.

The Cathedral would like to thank the artist Ms Penny Warden who has kindly offered to donate the commission from sales to the Blackburn Cathedral Appeal
