Blackburn Cathedral Developments
Cathedral Precinct Development
New apartments, offices, shops and a hotel are planned to be built in the grounds of the Cathedral with the aim of restoring the heart-beat to the Close and the Town Centre
Master-minded by a team of experts, planning permission was granted in 2007, and the realisation of the project took a major stride towards reality with the appointment in 2008 of Maple Grove, a development company who will oversee the development.
This computergenerated image gives an idea of what the development may look like.
The project is a partnership between the Cathedral, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and the funding agencies - HCA and NWDA.
The Cathedral Chapter aims to build a Cathedral Close for the 21st Century, housing both Cathedral Clergy and Lay Staff, and new state of the art office accomodation and educational facilities. and in doing so support the regeneration of Blackburn town centre.
The Board of Blackburn Cathedral Developments manages this project on behalf of the Cathedral Chapter.
