Our Vision
Blackburn Cathedral: Good News for Lancashire
A cathedral takes its identity from the fact that it contains the bishop’s cathedra or teaching seat, which is also his worshipping seat in the building.
Central to our vision and mission is therefore the maintenance of a round of daily services – Morning and Evening Prayer, and the Eucharist, sustained through the specific gifts of our musicians, and through the praying presence of clergy and laity alike.
Within this there is particular focus on intercessory prayer. But as a place from which the bishop teaches, we also seek to resource God’s people educationally and in many other ways. Our aim is to make the cathedral a place of dialogue and conversation for the whole community.
