Our name pays homage to the intricate weaving patterns that once defined Blackburn’s textile industry – Checks & Greys. We take pride in reviving this piece of local history, infusing it with a sense of community spirit and achievement.
Located inside the historic Blackburn Cathedral, looking out onto Cathedral Square, you’ll find the welcome ambiance we’ve gained fame for and whether you’re here for a casual lunch with friends or a business meeting, you’re most welcome.
From our popular all day Lancashire breakfasts to delicious lunches, all carefully crafted by our in house team of chefs, there is something for everyone.
And when it comes to beverages, we’ve got you covered too. Enjoy the full-bodied flavours of our specialty Cathedra-blend coffee, expertly roasted by our friends at Exchange Coffee. Or treat yourself to a refreshing glass of Blackburn Cathedral’s own Cathedra Gin, served over ice with a splash of tonic.

The modern, bright and airy café can comfortably host over 60 seated guests and it is available to hire as a private venue any evening from 4.30pm.
Ideally located, fully licensed and with onsite catering, it is the perfect choice for your next event.
We can cater for your event at Checks & Greys too, be that in one of the amazing spaces within the Cathedral or at an other external venue of your choice.
