FORGOT YOUR DETAILS?

Weddings

Although the rules for weddings are more complicated you can only be married in the Cathedral if you live in the Cathedral Parish*, if you are the Cathedral Electoral Roll (the adult membership roll of the Cathedral, to be on this you must be a regular worshipper at the Cathedral) or obtain and Archbishop’s License (To get one of these you must have a strong connection with the Cathedral – for example a former choirboy or choirgirl).

The basic cost of getting married in the Cathedral is the same as in any parish church in the country. There are, of course, additional things to take into account which you may choose to have and will add to the cost. All this will be discussed with you when you make an initial enquiry and it has been established you are entitled to marry at the Cathedral.

If you have been previously married special guidelines apply, but they do allow, in certain circumstances, people to be married in church who have been divorced. You can obtain further information about the Church of England’s guidelines on the Church of England’s Website.

If you would like to know more about getting married in the Cathedral please complete the form below or come to a Sunday Service and speak to one of the Clergy who will be only too happy to help.

The final decision about Baptisms and Marriages rests with the Dean.
