Music & recitals

Music is central to the work and life of the cathedral. See below for more information about our music and particularly our lunchtime recital series.

Our primary purpose as a Music Department is to give glory to God through music, to help people pray, and to bring people closer together and closer to God.

As well as the work of our Cathedral Choirs, we also develop musical events throughout the year. Annual Christmas Concerts and Spring concerts are complemented by our weekly Wednesday concert series.

Lunchtime concerts take place on most Wednesday lunchtimes during school term time at 12:15pm. Organ recitals are given on the Cathedral’s 1969 / 2002  Walker / Wood organ and we also welcome a variety of instrumentalists and singers.

Please note that Wednesday lunchtime recitals do not take place through the school holiday season.
